Description

The 4th day in a row I’ve been up past 4AM imaging Saturn and Jupiter.

The results were leaving me wanting more the past three nights.

I only blamed the last-gen camera for a few minutes before I wondered how my collimation may be affected with a planetary imaging train vs deep sky - last time I aligned optics.

The night before I had also dropped this weird habit I kept from my Alt/Az mount days with the SCT - using a diagonal mirror. This was adding pointless focal length and darkening my image by consequence leading to longer - less detailed frame rates.

Turns out my collimation was worse than I thought….and removing the diagonal cut a considerable amount of time off acquiring 10K frames or so…which was part of a new time limit I was setting on captures due to experimenting with stacking rotated vs non-rotated planetary video.

All in all - I learned a few things on my sleepless nights and walked away with the best planet pics I’ve taken since diving into the art over 3 years ago.
